More than 90.000 European children are in public custody in institutions or foster families. They are a high risk group. They may have living parents, but their parents face poverty, migration, drugs, and are unable to care for them. As EU citizens, these children have basic rights: good professional care and human relations, a secure base, and opportunities for learning basic social and emotional skills. The best results of caregiving (brain development, social function, later school and education) are produced if you improve caregiving practices for young children - from birth to age three.
The transFAIR project was aimed at further development og the FAIRstart training materials so it can be used by both foster parents and staff at institutions.

The main results of the HEALTH C project will include the development of a training course in communication in emergency situations and the respective training materials, including a toolkit.
Teaching parents emotional intelligence
Teaching parents emotional intelligence
Emotional Intelligence is a wide range of skills and abilities that children can develop and improve. It taps into a fundamental element of human behaviour that is distinct from cognitive intelligence (IQ). Although some children or adults are naturally more emotionally intelligent than others, one can develop high emotional intelligence even if was not born with it.
The main project’s output will:
- Develop relevant tools (training programme) for empowering parents with new skills required by our challenging societies.
- Contribute to the development of innovative e-learning content that will provide long term support for parents in early education.
- Facilitate the development of innovative practices in adult education and innovative approached to inter-generational and family learning.
- Share experience and good practice achieved through the development of the outputs, at national, regional and European level.
If you are a teacher, a mentor, a community worker, a community stakeholder or just interested in new ways of learning for the young, then maybe you would like to see what all the youth and people involved in the project did during the two years, 2011-2013 … and perhaps you get some inspirations from all of them.

In Scandinavia we have many young talents that can design and develop entertainment games. Besides, the Scandinavian pedagogical tradition is an excellent basis for designing serious games, so there is a potential for our talents in this field as well.
In Scandinavia we have many young talents that can design and develop entertainment games. Besides, the Scandinavian pedagogical tradition is an excellent basis for designing serious games, so there is a potential for our talents in this field as well.
But talent alone is not enough for young entrepreneurs.
The overall aim of the project is to ensure that entrepreneurs in the Scandinavian game industry can establish viable companies and survive in a highly competitive business environment by developing and testing business models, incubators with business coaches, a Scandinavian competences database, and a Scandinavian network. As it is now, there is no business model for companies in the gaming industry.
The project Wisdom of Special People (WISPEL) is a necessary PEER-TO-PEER ADULT EDUCATION INFORMAL LEARNING TOOL that will improve the life of people with disabilities and their families.
The project Wisdom of Special People (WISPEL) is a necessary PEER-TO-PEER ADULT EDUCATION INFORMAL LEARNING TOOL that will improve the life of people with disabilities and their families.
We intend to transfer wisdom and advises from families of people with special needs/ disabilities to other disabled individuals or families of such. This will increase their knowledge and basic, social and life competencies and skills. We intend to gather relevant advises and suggestions from the people who already have a good experience with living with a disability and make it a learning tool. A tool that will subsequently be provided to other persons with disabilities and families of such persons, in order to help them pass through the difficult times easier and to give them important lighthouses to guide their walk through life.
We have created a network of organizations from several European countries (Romania, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Latvia, Portugal) and we will all try to find the most successful persons and families who live with a disability. We will make after that the work of research - mainly interviews. We will produce a small handbook and a web-based tool (website or blog or similar) where we will put the selected advises and suggestions, wisdom and positive experiences of the disabled persons and families who have learned already how to deal with all the barriers and hard times of a life in a wheelchair, or without a limb, or without sight or hearing and so on. We will produce a small handbook where we will put the selected advises and suggestions, wisdom and positive experiences of the disabled persons and families who have learned already how to deal with all the barriers and hard times of a life in a wheelchair, or without a limb, or without sight or hearing and so on.
The project is co-financed by the European Commission through the Lifelong Learning Programme, and runs between August 1, 2013 - July 31, 2015.
The objectives of the project are:
- To form a network of organizations working/ in contact with disabled people
- To gather advises and experiences from the people with special needs and their families for their peers.
- To provide the structured information to other people with special needs and families of such, in the countries of the network members and across Europe / worldwide.
StorySHOP - Storytelling for Social and Health Care Workers Professional Identity Development is a Leonardo Transfer of Innovation project, aimed at developing a training programme based on digital storytelling addressing healthcare workers in Europe.
StorySHOP - Storytelling for Social and Health Care Workers Professional Identity Development is a Leonardo Transfer of Innovation project, aimed at developing a training programme based on digital storytelling addressing healthcare workers in Europe.
Indeed, people who are professionally involved in the care of people who are suffering or in need, are at high risk of experiencing excessive stress, due to a possible disproportionate involvement with their clients’ situations.
Storytelling was chosen as the leading training methodology on which to base StorySHOP’s products because it allows participants to analyse and understand complex situations, which could cause suffering, without having to directly talk about them. Therefore, it is an innovative and effective technique to overcome emotionally stressful environments, and turn them into situations that can be faced in normal day-to-day life.
The main objective of the resources produced by the project will be to enable participants to establish balanced relationships with clients, and to avoid burnout.
NETnotNEET is a European project aimed at NEET people, “Not (engaged) in Education, Employment or Training”
NETnotNEET is a European project aimed at NEET people, “Not (engaged) in Education, Employment or Training”
The NEET group is considered one of the most problematic groups in the context of youth unemployment. VET system, employment services and appointed public authorities are the key actors in preventing the NEET phenomenon.
Our aim
The project aims to improve the performance of VET systems, employment services and appointed public authorities, by enabling them to better respond to the different and specific needs of NEET people at local and European level. This will be achieved by supporting and strengthening their services, methodologies and tools, and offering them new strategies to prevent and contrast the NEET phenomenon.
Our strategies
The project is based on a double level of complementary strategies:
- Bottom-up: involving NEETs in Forumsand Laboratories of Dialogue to discuss and propose new methodologies and tools for the VET system, employment services and appointed public authorities, according to their needs and expectations.
- Top-down: involving public and private stakeholders of the VET system, employment services and appointed public authorities in Peer Reviewsto analyse the impact of their good practices.
Experts and NEETs will match in Dueling Moderator Focus Groups, where there will be a synthesis of the two points of view (bottom-up and top-down) which will flow into National Strategy papers.
A Transnational Laboratory will also be held with European experts, representatives of the NEET target group, the VET systems, employment services and appointed public authorities.
The results of this transnational lab will feed into a Transnational Strategy paper.
3 study visits involving partner organisations and external participants, selected through an EU Call for study visits, are planned in order to learn and share knowledge and experiences about social welfare systems oriented to NEETs.

Active ageing as one of the biggest challenges in modern EU still lacks the true understanding of the concept of ageing actively. There are mixed concepts and methodologies, but there is no general or common approach to active ageing as such. There are activities for older adults that support their will for lifelong learning, but there are only a scarce number of those addressing the topic active ageing in general.
The term “active ageing” is still relatively new and therefore used loosely. It is associated generally with “staying healthy, physically and mentally, for as long as possible – active and in good shape”, and it could thus be divided into 5 bigger parts:
- Health and living expectations
- Active social participation
- Lifelong Learning in non-formal education
- Senior employment
- Recreation
We all know population across Europe is ageing, but seeing them as “biggest economic and social challenge” seems unfair even in definition. If active ageing should be “the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and security in order to enhance quality of life as people age”, this would actually mean that staying active in later life allows individuals to realize their formerly latent potentials for physical, social and mental activities and well-being.
Peer-to-Peer Support Fostering Active Ageing Project started in 2014 with the aim of developing a methodology based on peer to peer training so to foster active ageing. Peers will be trained to conduct educational programme on active ageing in face-to-face version and in e-learning version.
The training will be aimed at rising perceived self efficacy and copying skills of participants (older adults 55+). It will cover the general fields of active ageing, health issues and technology usage with added special modules regarding national analysis from participating countries.
